Old Aesop's Fables
Journey with us to the Eastern Market and along the way you will experience the stories of, "The Lion and the Mouse," "The Country Mouse and the City Mouse." and "The Tortoise and the Hare."


Rapunzel
This play will rope the audience in with its hair-dropping story and characters!

The Princess and the Pea, the story of this play is based on the tale as related by Hans Andersen in the collection of tales,"Tales Told for Children," published in 1835. Prince Johnathan has been searching for a bride. He hasn't been successful because he only wants to marry a real princess. A wicked storm brings a guest to the castle, Ophelia, who claims to be a real princess. The King insists that Ophelia must pass three tests to prove her lineage. Join us to see if Ophelia is truly a real princess.

The Gingerbread Boy ( December Only )
Fast, fast, fast I am you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man! Strange, he looks more like a boy to me. Come along with us as we see Gerry the gingerbread boy head down the road in search of his fortune. Gerry meets an inchworm who is fast in her own way. After a quick game, Gerry is back on the road where he meets a busy little spelling bee who is also fast in her own way. Busy is the best speller in her class. One spelling competition in the books and Gerry heads out in search of his destiny. It is soon that he meets Tammy the turtle and gets into a knock- down, racers race that leads him, well, we will see if it leads Gerry anywhere in the end.


WINTER / SPRING 2012 SELECTIONS

Puss in Boots
Jaques father has died and left his brother everything but the castle on the hill. Josie, a talking cat in boots, makes a plan for Jaques, the Millers son. Jaques has to play the part of the Marquis of Carrabas and Josie will arrange for him to meet the King and his daughter, Olivia. Fearing the worst, Jaques goes along with the ruse: becoming strangely elated when in fact it works and the King and Olivia agree to meet him at his castle. There is one small problem. The Castle is the home of an OGRE! How will Josie deal with that.

 

The Disenchanted Dragon
Follow the young Samantha as she discovers this Dragon is not like your typical dragon, and how she finds a way for him to stay in the village.

 

Another Strand in the Web
Join Rags To Riches for their production of "Another Stand in the Web," which is the discovery of three spider tales namely,"Why Spiders Live on the Ceiling," "The Stone with a Beard," and "Ananse Goes Fishing." In the first tale we see how Ananse outwits the Leopard and finds a safe place to hide. The Stone with a Beard that he finds is magical and Ananse uses it to trick the animals out of their food. Ananse is caught, however and looses all of the food that he hoarded. In the final tale we see Ananse get tricked by the Turtle into doing all of the work of catching the fish. Join us to see who gets to eat this delicious fish, and how Ananse appeases the Sky God with his gift of storytelling in the end.

The Disenchanted Dragon
Dream Big with Samantha Booker, the town of Hamlet's official reader, as she discovers a disenchanted dragon who would rather talk than fight. Samantha has to convince the town that living with a dragon who sings songs and writes poetry is the stuff that dreams are made of. Samantha arranges for St. George to come and meet this Dragon. Together they all show the town that this Dragon should be allowed to stay, and is not a monster the villagers need to be afraid of.
